Connie Miller, Board Chair
Connie earned a BA in Accounting from Boise State University. She started her career at the Girl Scouts of Silver Sage Council as the accountant for 12 years. Connie later worked for Idaho Corporate Credit Union and Idahy Credit Union where she served as Vice President of Finance for 12 years. She was responsible for financial management and information systems. During that time, Connie received her graduate level certification from Western CUNA Management School with High Honors. In 2008, Connie was promoted to President/CEO of Icon Credit Union. Connie is a past honoree of the 2009 Women of Today and Tomorrow Award and she received the 2010 Idaho Business Review’s Women of the Year Award.
Kelly Wong, 1st Vice-Chair
Kelly is a native Boise resident who earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Idaho and an MBA from Boise State University. She is a Vandal through and through and is now the proud mom of a Vandal! Kelly has been employed by Hewlett-Packard for 21 years, currently in Global Procurement as a Project Manager. She has served on the Girl Scouts of Silver Sage Board of Directors since 2008 and consistently assists the council with improving their computer technology through HP’s Product Donation program. Kelly enjoys volunteering with the Girl Scouts as it gives her the ability to give back to her community.
Martin Liberal, 2nd Vice-Chair
Martin graduated with a BS in Information and Computer Science from the University of California-Irvine, and started his career at Accenture as a business systems consultant. Martin later joined Synoptek, Inc., an Irvine, CA based IT consulting firm and, in late 2010, relocated to Boise to help grow Synoptek's outsourced IT practice. Having been born and raised in Orange County, CA, Martin enjoys the balanced lifestyle change Boise offers.
Laura Lee Berg, Secretary
Laura Lee is the Manager of Bank of the Cascades El Dorado Branch in Meridian. She previously served as Vice President and Human Resources Officer where she was responsible for all aspects of the human resource department, including recruiting, training, staffing, and employee support. Laura Lee chaired the Communications Committee for Bank of the Cascades and is a past board member of the American Institute of Banking and the Citizens Review Committee, Joint School District No.2. She serves in the community through youth activities, the Meridian Chamber of Commerce, United Way, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Festival of Trees, Paint the Town, and Pine Acres Youth Camp. In 2005, Laura Lee was recognized by the Women’s and Children’s Alliance with the Tribute to Women & Industry Award.
Camilla Strickler, Treasurer
Camilla earned a degree in finance and general management from Eastern Washington University. She also holds the prestigious designation of Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA). The CTFA designation recognizes standards of knowledge and competence for the trust and wealth advisory field. At Idaho Trust Bank, Camilla works with high net worth individuals and their advisors by helping them achieve their personal and financial goals. Camilla is a member of the Bank’s Trust Administration Committee, Trust Investment Committee, and Annual Review Committee. She is an active member of the Boise Estate Planning Council and Trust and Estate Professionals of Idaho. Camilla looks to the Girl Scouts of Silver Sage as a way to get involved in the community to make a positive impact.
DIRECTORS-AT-LARGE
Sonna Lynn Fernandez- Idaho Transportation Department
Sonna Lynn serves as the Division of Highways Planning Coordinator for the Idaho Transportation Department. She developed the department’s Long-Range Transportation Plan called Idaho on the Move which was completed in December 2010. Sonna Lynn is responsible for statewide highway planning and performance, corridor planning, functional classification, and working with each of the department’s six District Planners. Currently she is working with the Northwest Community Development Institute to become a Certified Professional Community and Economic Developer (PCED). Sonna Lynn was appointed by the Governor as a Commissioner to the Idaho Women’s Commission, dedicated to improving the lives of women and their children in Idaho and served in that capacity from 2006 until the Commission was defunded in 2009. As Commissioner, she edited and added chapters to the Idaho Laws, a Guide for Women and Families book that was published annually. She participated in several conferences and continues to speak to groups on women and children issues. She is a member of the Nampa Board Chapter of Modern Woodmen of America, where she works with her Chapter Representative to improve the quality of life for families and communities by social, charitable, and volunteer activities, including Join Hands Day and Make a Difference Day. Sonna Lynn has been a dedicated Girl Scout Leader in Nampa for nearly five years. She encourages her troop to participate in community service activities and has led her troop in gaining their Silver Award.
Thomas Gay-Turnkey Strategic Relations
Tom is the founder and chairman of Turnkey Strategic Relations, a nationwide training and coaching company. He also leads the Boise franchise for The Alternative Board (tab-boise.com) and serves on a number of boards for privately held entrepreneurial firms and service organizations. Tom is a frequent speaker and teacher on topics such as strategic planning, social entrepreneurship, and relationship marketing at business groups, community service groups, universities, and churches across the USA. Tom and his wife, Patti, traveled to South Africa where they started a new model non-profit ministry organization, Monte Christo Ministries. Tom was honored with the coveted INC 500 Award for the fastest growing privately held firms in the USA and was honored in an Individual Investor Magazine cover story (May 1999) as one of the 5 Best Undiscovered CEOs in America.
Monica Jaszkowski-Retired US Naval Officer
Monica is a native Idahoan who grew up in Girl Scouting. She earned her First Class award as a CIT at Camp Alice Pittenger and her troop hosted the Senior Encampment. A graduate of Oregon State University with a degree in technical writing, Monica spent the next twenty years as a Navy Line Officer living in San Diego, Seattle, Washington DC, London and Belgium. Upon returning to Idaho, Monica continued her involvement with Girl Scouts by leading troops, serving as service unit chair, encampment chair, and trainer. She earned the Outstanding Leader Award, Appreciation Pin, International Friendship Award and Thanks Badge.
Doug Pill-Merchants Moving and Storage
Doug is the Director of HR Solutions for Merchants Moving and Storage. He is a passionate businessman with experience in operational, business development, and financial analysis and his expertise includes his proven ability to mentor individuals and lead teams to peak performance, while building multiple organizations. Doug is actively engaged in the business community through the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce, Human Resources Association of the Treasure Valley, and Boise Valley Economic Partnership. Doug enjoys giving back to the community and also serves as a volunteer for the Boise Centennial Rotary Club.
Kail Q. Seibert-Ahead of the Kurve, LLC
Kail is the Principal in Seibert Law Offices and the President and Founder of Ahead of the Kurve, LLC, a third party administrator for background screening (including drug and alcohol testing). Ahead of the Kurve also offers management/skills training and Human Resource support. Kail is a member of Idaho State bar, State Bar of California, American Bar Association, and the Business and Labor and Employment Law Sections of each. She is a member of several professional and community associations and served as Hearing Officer for the Idaho State Personnel Commission for eight years. Kail hails from Pocatello, Idaho, where she received her BSBA from the University of Redlands, California and her JD from the University of San Diego School of Law. Kail’s 35 years of experience in business and law provide her with the unique ability to counsel clients from both a practical and legal perspective. Prior to obtaining her JD, she had sixteen years experience in executive human resource management, positions in start-up, medium and large corporations. Kail served as In-House Counsel and Vice President of Human Resources for an electronics company just prior to returning to Idaho. She has an excellent working knowledge of domestic and international businesses and has served on multiple boards. Kail has been an employment and business attorney for over 22 years with 10 years in California as a trial lawyer. Her California practice emphasized litigation and advising employers in the areas of employment, insurance defense, construction, professional liability and contract law. Her current practice emphasizes advising and coaching management, administrative claim resolution, HR audits, investigations and mediation.
Lori Smith-Idaho Power
Lori is Vice President and Chief Risk Officer for Idaho Power Company. She is responsible for Audit, Compliance, Security and Risk Management along with her subsidiary responsibilities. Lori previously served as Vice President of Corporate Planning and as Vice President of Finance. She serves on the Ida-West Energy board, IDACORP Financial board, and is currently a member of the Advisory Board of the West Y-City Branch Advisory Committee and a member of the Treasure Valley Family YMCA Finance Committee. Lori holds a BS in business administration from Boise State University and received her CFA certification from the Association of Investment Management and Research in 1999.
Leatha Thayer-Wells Fargo
Leatha has been employed by Wells Fargo for 21 years in the Business Banking Loan Operations Group and currently is a Loan Administration Manager. Leatha serves on the administrative council for her church involving meeting facilitation, budgeting, hiring staff and working with various groups. She plays keyboard in the church band, “Wings of Faith”. Leatha was a Girl Scout from Brownie to Senior. As Leatha shared, “Because I was a Girl Scout, I realize the skills I gathered from the interactions I had within the organization has helped me in other endeavors. I would like to support the organization to inspire young girls to achieve their dreams and desires. The sky is the limit in what they can learn and the opportunities they have in Girl Scouts allows them to experience this success.”
Raleigh Ann Vachek-Wells Fargo Advisors
Raleigh holds a BA degree in Business Management from University of Northern Colorado and has over 10 years experience in the investment consulting industry. She holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER ™ credential and is a member of Boise Estate Planning Council, Financial Planning Association, and the Southwest Idaho Planned Giving Council.
