Discovery Center Girl Scout Night - March 30
Girl Scouts, Daisy to Ambassador, are invited to an evening of fun exploring the Matter Splatter Exhibit and to see Sue, the T-Rex! For more information about both exhibits, please visit http://www.dcidaho.org/
There will be science shows every 45 minutes starting at 6:15pm (6:15 pm, 7 pm, 7:45 pm, 8:30 pm). Shows will include:
• Dancing Oobleck: Demonstrates how an object, depending on its composition, transmits kinetic energy. visitors explore how energy in the form of sound waves travels through a non-newtonian fluid showcasing oobleck’s property of shear thickening.
• To Melt or Not to Melt: Aerogel is a material developed by NASA for Space Exploration. Come help us investigate aerogel see how an object, depending on its composition, transmits kinetic energy.
• A Strand In Time: By constructing a timeline of life on earth, visitors examine the scale of geologic time, which in turn allows them to comprehend how long ago dinosaurs like Tyrannosaurus rex, roamed the earth.
• Make a Good Impression: How can a 67 Million year old Dinosaur travel all of the world? Visitors will discover how fossil casts are made in the museum and the reasons why they are made.
Every participating Girl Scout is invited to introduce the world of Girl Scouting to a friend who is kindergarten age or older by registering them to come to the event with them. Parent, guardian or troop leader must be present. Price for girls and their invited friend is $5.00 each and attending adult is free. Cookie Dough can be used by submitting an Activy/Event Registration Form (please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for form) to our Boise office. Please no tag-a-long siblings.
