Girl Scout Cookies®
Girl Scouts and cookies share a rich history. While recipes and box designs have changed, selling cookies remains an important part of today's Girl Scout program.

Who knew what a cookie could buy? For many girls, the Girl Scout cookie program is their first entrepreneurial venture and helps foster a sense of achievement that resonates far into the future. Girl Scout cookies are only sold for three short weeks, but the benefits for girls last throughout their entire lives! Many of today’s successful businesswomen credit their professional accomplishments to their early start in the Girl Scout Cookie Sale program. Because of this experience, they learned how to be members of a team, work toward a common goal, interact with customers in a professional manner, follow through on a commitment, and strive to do their best.

Selling cookies helps girls develop a wide range of skills, including:

·     Leadership
·     Money management
·     Decision making
·     Customer service
·     Planning
·     Goal setting
·     Teamwork
·     Public speaking

The Girl Scout Cookie Sale Program is a seasonal, optional activity in which Brownie through Senior troops voluntarily participate. Since the 1920s Girl Scouts have sold cookies as a way to raise money for troop activities.

Making It Count
All of the proceeds—every penny—from a local council's cookie activities remains in the area where the cookies are sold. This revenue is used to benefit girls, some of it directly by remaining in the Girl Scout troop/group treasury and some of it indirectly by subsidizing the cost of providing the Girl Scout program in the local area.
"Cookie revenue" helps local councils:
  • Recruit and train volunteer leaders for each troop/group.
  • Provide the financial assistance needed to make Girl Scouting available for all girls.
  • Improve and maintain camp and other activity sites.
  • Keep event/camp fees for all members to a minimum.
  • Sponsor special events and projects.

Each local council sets the price per box, based on its needs and its knowledge of its local market. The price per box, therefore, may vary from one location to another and from one year to the next. Today's prices reflect both the current cost of purchasing cookies from a licensed baker and the realities of providing Girl Scout activities in an ever-changing economic environment.

Who makes Girl Scout Cookies?
Little Brownie Bakers has been baking Girl Scout cookies for over 25 years and is the supplier for your very own Girl Scouts of Silver Sage Council.  Located in Louisville, Kentucky, they are licensed by GSUSA to provide eight varieties of cookies for the annual Cookie Sale, including Samoas, Thin Mints, Tagalongs, Do-si-dos, Trefoils and All Abouts. A large percentage of every box purchased goes directly back to girl program and the troops who sell them. This enables better program experiences and helps create programs created by the girls, for the girls.  Surveys say this is one of the most favorite programs in Girl Scouting.
Their mission is to provide high-quality product and support services to Girl Scout councils to ensure that the annual cookie sale helps girls develop important life skills and generate income for troops and councils.

*** For the safety and security of the girls who are selling cookies, Girl Scout Cookies are not available for purchase online.***
