Teen Advisory Comm

What is this TAC you speak of?

Written by Co-president Ashton Lupton

If an older Girl Scout came up to you and said, “I have been accepted into TAC for the Girl Scouts of Silver Sage,” many people wouldn’t know what she was talking about. TAC, Teen Advisory Committee, is a group of Girl Scouts from all over Silver Sage Council who meet monthly to cultivate new ideas for the council that come from the eyes of the girls. Our advisor for the 2009-2010 TAC, Colleen Parish, and Program Manager for GSSSC, KC Driscoll, sit in on our meetings. This year TAC is able to involve girls from many different areas of the council because we are holding our meetings though Skype. Skype is a new way of communicating via the internet where you can hold group discussions through voice or instant messaging. “Skype is a new venue for meeting that many organizations haven’t heard of yet. We had to work out a couple of kinks with the program but our first meeting of the year went by without a catch,” commented Co-president Dakota Barnes. The meetings are held in a professional manner that teaches girls many skills they will use in the business world. Our first retreat will be held in Sun Valley, ID to create a strong bond with the Girl Scouts who will help shape Silver Sage Council. Please look forward to more updates written by TAC members in the coming months.
