The purchase of supplemental insurance is required for extended travel and camping trips, when girls will be engaged in activities with risk of injury, or at an event in which non-Girl Scouts will be present.
Plan 2 Insurance extends basic coverage to cover:
- Trips that last longer than 2 nights. (If you are traveling for 3 nights and one of the nights is a federal holiday, you are covered under the basic plan.)
- All participants at the event whether or not they are registered Girl Scouts (such as family and community guests at a bridging ceremony).
- Registered Girl Scouts who are considered "tagalongs" - that is, in a different grade level than the activity is designed for.
How Much Does Plan 2 Insurance Cost? The cost is 11 cents per person, per day, with a $5.00 minimum purchase. So, mutliply the expected number of girls and adults at your event or on your trip x 11 cents x number of days to figure your total. If it is less than $5.00, then pay the $5.00 minimum. If it is over $5.00, pay the actual amount.
How Do You Purchase Plan 2 Insurance? Print and complete the Plan 2 Insurance Form. Make your check out to "Girl Scouts of Silver Sage" and send the completed form and your check to the Boise office at 1410 Etheridge Lane, Boise, 83704. We must receive the check at least 2 weeks prior to the event/trip to guarantee coverage.
WARNING! If you take an extended trip and do not purchase supplemental insurance, the basic coverage (provided with your membership registration) will not be in effect. You will not be covered at all.
