This is What a Girl Can Do!
Everyone knows how tasty Girl Scout Cookies are, but a lot of the people who buy them don't realize what a Girl Scout learns from selling them. By creating a plan, interacting with customers, and working as part of a team, girls learn five skills: goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics - aspects essential to leadership, to success, and to life.
We have research that breaks down how girls directly benefit from the 5 Skills and how they are putting them into action.
In a 2012 study, The Girl Scout Cookie Program, Teaching Essential Skills for a Lifetime, the Girl Scout Research Institute found girls really do develop five essential skills through the Girl Scout Cookie Program. Survey responses from 1,417 Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts representing various regions of the country provide compelling evidence that girls benefit from the cookie program through the development of these skills.
