Volunteers

Why Volunteer?
By volunteering, you will help further the Girl Scouts' Mission to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.
Benefits of an All Girl Environment
The Girl Scout program is designed specifically for girls. Their needs and interests are the basis for program development. Activities are designed specifically to help girls develop critical life skills. Girls have a place where they are encouraged to try new things and experiment with new ideas. They are expected to be decision-makers and leaders. They can take risks and learn from their mistakes in a supportive environment of their girl peers without the social pressure to conform to stereotyped expectations.
Girls Need Examples of Women
From female CEO’s to women who get up at 4:30 a.m. to drive a tractor, girls need to see adult women being successful.  You can help Girls experience success in all its forms.  There are many ways to help the Girl Scouts.  Your involvement is only limited by your imagination.
Here are some of the ways you can get involved and help the Girls Scouts of Silver Sage Council develop leadership in girls by:

·   -- Offering Girl Scouts a Job Shadowing opportunity.

·   -- Participating on special committees such as offering Public Relations and Marketing advice.

·   -- Offering girls experiences that might not be available to them such as through the donation of a one-day guided rafting trip for six girls.

·   -- Offering specialized skills for adult volunteer enrichment trainings.

·   -- Being a troop leader or co-leader.

·   -- Being a special event volunteer such as for the Women’s Fitness Celebration.

·   -- Being a volunteer in the Service Unit.

Make a difference for the Girls in Your Community.
If you don’t, who will?
