Community Troop Program
Girl Scouts is for EVERY GIRL. Access to Girl Scouting should not be limited by factors beyond girls’ control.
GSSSC’s Community Troop Programs aim to serve all girls regardless of their circumstances, bringing programming directly to the places girls already are.
What is the Community Troop Program?
The Girl Scout Community Troop Program is a year-long, biweekly program designed for girls in K-8th at community/Title 1 schools in the Treasure Valley. It allows them to have confidence in themselves, act ethically, honestly, and responsibly, develop and maintain healthy relationships, and contribute to the world in purposeful and meaningful ways.
The Girl Scout Leadership Experience
(GSLE), the foundation of the Girl Scout program, features a variety of fun, challenging, and experiential activities that empower girls as they develop five attitudes, skills, and behaviors essential to effective leadership:
• Strong Sense of Self
• Positive Values
• Challenge Seeking
• Healthy Relationships
• Community Problem Solving
One day every other week, your Girl Scout will spend her lunch hour or after school program time engaging in activities in an all-girl environment, working towards different goals and projects.
As a part of this mission, your Girl Scout will receive the following at no cost to you:
- Membership for the 2026-2027 Girl Scout Year (October 1, 2026 - September 20, 2027)
- This gives your girl access to go to camp and Girl Scout council events!
- Girl Scout Uniform
- Badges and Patches earned throughout the year
- All supplies and materials needed to participate
What to Expect
One day every other week, your Girl Scout will spend her lunch hour or after-school program time engaging in activities in an all-girl environment. Troops are led by trained Girl Scout staff members or supported volunteers, called Community Troop Specialists. Girls take part in engaging, challenging, and fun activities like earning badges, selling cookies, exploring STEM, getting outdoors, and doing community service projects - all part of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
